Day #90 Sunday, August 29, 2010

Today we did one of our favorite things we like to do as a family, go to a Texas Rangers game. Even though it was super hot, we had a good time. Me & Taygan didn't watch much of the game because she was too busy playing at the kids zone, which is a great idea, but I was kinda disappointed I didn't get to watch a little bit more of the game. Oh well, they lost so I guess I didn't miss too much.

Check out the very cool chest protector backpack!! This was what they were giving away to kids under 13! Girls loved them, heck I wanted one too. I did get one of those caps they are wearing, even though I think they were probably for kids. Doesn't matter, free is free!!

Day #89 Saturday, August 28, 2010

One of Taygan's favorite things to do is play games. We had planned to go to the fair today, but she wasn't feeling good, so she & I stayed home & played uno while Makaylie & Chey went. I was trying to take her picture without her posing but as you can tell she is cheesing it up for the picture.

Oh & if you ever play games with her, be prepared to let her win a few times or she gets figting mad. Can you say, COMPETITVE??

Day #88 Friday, August 27, 2010

Gotta love after game speeches. Chey is planting pearls of wisdom, scary thought huh?? j/k if you are reading this babe lol!

Day #87 Thursday, August 26, 2010

County Road 1280, my view every morning on my way to work. Its probably not much to see, but the quiet, simplicity of living in a small town is something I am truly thankful for.

Day #86 Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Patiently waiting on the next hit, so she can show her incredible speed lol!!

Day #85 Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Is this not the cutest baby boy? EVER??

He is my friend, Lindsay's little boy. He had to come to the clinic today for a doctor's appointment. I hate that he's kinda been sick, but so glad we got to see him. As usual, we oooohed & awwwed over him, like silly women do. I don't care though, I love doing that & I pretty sure he liked it too!

Day #84 Monday, August 23, 2010

Taygan decided to take a self portrait of herself while waiting for her ENT doctor. She went in today for her 6 month check up from her surgery. She had tubes put in her ears & had her adenoids taken out. She got a great report, which I was thrilled about. I was so worried after swimming like a fish this summer that it would affect her ears & make her tubes come out. We've been very careful about making sure she has her plugs in but I was still kinda worried. Luckily, all is well!!

Day #83 Sunday, August 22, 2010

Me & Makaylie just chillin on the couch, watching our favorite show, Big Brother!

Day #82 Saturday, August 21, 2010

Me & the girls went to our friend's son's 4th birthday today at Incredible Pizza. The girls haven't been since they were little so they had a great time. Trey, the birthday boy, would not let me get his picture the entire time we were there. I had to sneak this one in while he wasn't looking! He & Taygan are getting a head start on eating the icing off the cake.

After the party, we went to their house to continue the festivities. The kids all got to play together, and unfortunately destroyed their house, sorry!! We all had a great time, though. Its nice to just sit around talking & laughing. We just don't get to do that enough!

Day #81 Friday, August 20, 2010

Somehow I have totally missed, until recently, that we have a couple of peach trees in our yard. One of our neighbors came & asked if she could pick some the other day and I said "sure, ya go ahead." What I didn't say was, "um ya sure, I had no idea they were even there." So tonight me, the girls, & some of the neighbor kids decided to pick our own. They are pretty small but they taste yummy! So far I've only eaten one, but I'm totally impressed. If I was a real homemaker kind of person I'd make some jelly or something cool like that.

If you didn't get that last comment, it was a hint to anyone reading this if you can assist me with recipes for peaches lol!!

Day #80 Thursday, August 19, 2010

As of today we have been in school for 1 day & 1 week and tonight was Parent Night at school. They handed out the student handbooks and you got to meet your kids teachers & learn about how they run their classrooms. Fortunately, we already know Taygan's teacher & think she is pretty amazing. I don't know Makaylie's teacher as well but she seems great! We are incredibly blessed to have a great group of teachers & staff at our school. I know that we are a small school, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks again Amber-Pocasset schools!!

Day #79 Wednesday, August 18, 2010

My silly girls!! I almost forgot to take a picture today, so on our way home from Taygan's practice I gave them the camera & well here ya go!

Day #78 Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Big thank you to my friend, Pam. She gave me this book to read & I'm loving it. Can't wait to continue reading!

Day #77 Monday, August 16, 2010

For awhile now I've been trying to come up with a system to help motivate my children to help out around the house. I think I've finally found something. I'm borrowing this idea from an article I read in Family Fun. The mom in this article got glass jars, let her kids decorate them & label them with their names. Since she had boys & girls, she chose marbles for the boys & some kind of jewel for the girls to fill their jars with. Then she made a chore list with each chore being worth a certain amount of marbles or jewels. This way each child could chose which chore they wanted to do. When the jar was full, they would get some kind of reward like money, having friends over, or special night out with mom or dad. She said she has been doing it for a year & its still working.

So far my girls are liking it. Tonight they are decorating their jars. We started the chore list yesterday, so they already have jewels to put in, which they are totally pumped about. I added a little stipulation to our system, if they girls are fighting with each other or just disobeying then they will have jewels taken away. I'm really hoping this will work, wish us luck!!

Day #76 Sunday, August 15, 2010

Watch out world, here comes the next best softball player :)

Day #75 Saturday, August 14, 2010

For about the last 8 months I have been trying my hand at training for & running 5k races. Now any of you that have known me for awhile know that I have no athletic bone in my body. I've always wanted to because I love sports, but God just chose not to let that be a talent of mine. I came to terms with this a long time ago, but decided I'm not going to let that stop me from running. I've always been conscience about healthy living, such as exercising & eating right. Yes, I know I'm one of those people who enjoys exercising, always have. I guess its just my way of doing something athletic that I can do. Another reason, and probably more importantly, is that I don't have the greatest heart family history. I have seen my uncles & dad suffer from dreaded heart disease & luckily they have all done very well. I figure since I'm not getting any younger that the earlier I start working on defeating that disease the better.
Today me & Lindsay did our Rush Springs Watermelon Festival 5k race. It was definetly tough with all the hills there, but I felt we both did really well. I finished a minute better than my last run, so I was glad for that. I do have to admit though if it wouldn't been for Lindsay I don't know if I would have. So thank you Lindsay for keeping me motivated, I couldn't have done it without you! Can't wait for the next one!

Day #74 Friday, August 13, 2010

Today is Chey's birthday & since he had baseball games tonight we didn't get to take him out for his birthday. Me & the girls decided he needed a cake instead. Cheesecake is one of his faves so thats what we decided on.
Happy Birthday, my love. I'm so blessed to have spent 15 birthdays with you & hope that we share many more.

Day #73 Thursday, August 12, 2010

This Saturday me & my friend & coworker Lindsay are running in the Rush Springs Watermelon Festival 5k race. Lindsay told me about these shorts & how much she loved running in them. Of course, I had to go try them because not all shorts are equal when it comes to running. I tried on these along with some other pairs & loved them too! The true test will be Saturday, can't wait to find out! Wish us luck on Saturday!

Day #72 Wednesday, August 11, 2001

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!! Our girls are getting so big, 1st & 4th graders, wow!! This will start our 3rd year here at Amber-Pocasset Schools & we couldn't be happier. I love the small school atmosphere & the time & attention the kids get here. Makaylie is in Mrs. Mosier's class & Taygan is in Mrs. Lewis's class. The morning kind of started out rough, but the girls had an awesome day! Thanks to all the wonderful teachers & staff, you guys are amazing!

Day #71 Tuesday, August 10, 2010

We opened our fall baseball season today. Me & the girls missed the first one because it started at 2:00, so I'm not sure who we played, but we lost so who cares, right? lol Anyway, this game is us vs. Chatty or Chattanooga (think I spelled that right). We did win this won, of course I should know the score, but wins a win!! GO PANTHERS!!!

Day #70 Monday, August 9, 2010

Taygan had her first practice tonight with a new team she is going to play machine pich softball with. They are a team out of Yukon & play in the Mustang league. We would obviously love for her to play a little closer to home but since there are not enough that want to make a team, we don't want her to miss any opportunity. She has loved to play since she was old enough to. She begged to play even before she was old enough.
They ended up practicing for about 2 hours & even though she was tired, she said she had fun & really wanted to continue to play with this team. On the way home, just out of the blue, she says, "Mommy, thank you for finding me a team & taking me to practice with them." Now I don't know about you, but it melted my heart & made the drive & time worth every single minute.

Day #69 Sunday, August 8, 2010

One of Taygan's best friends Abby James came over today for a little fishing & splash pad fun. Unfortunately no one caught any fish, probably because I'm an amateur when it comes to getting a fishing pole ready correctly. Oh well, they still enjoyed it & it was so hot that they really didn't want to fish that long anyway. We played in the splash pad awhile then went to Braums for ice cream. These girls had me laughing the entire time, as they say, kids say the darndest (sp??) things.

Day #68 Saturday, August 7, 2010

We are in Ardmore today for Chey's coed team, Whoosh. They are playing in the state tournament. I don't know officially, but the temperature today has been 100+, so me & the girls decided to go shopping. Since its tax free weekend too, what better time to do it! Our friend Jeremy had his kids with him this weekend, so one of the girls best friends, Natalee went with us. Her & Makaylie are the same age (within a few months of each other) and have been friends since they knew what friends were. Chey & Jeremy have been playing ball together since the girls were babies, so they have been each others entertainment at the ballparks. Unfortunately we don't get to see them as often as we like, they are still very important to us & we love every opportunity we get to see them!

Day #67 Friday, August 6, 2010

Mr. Schwans man I don't know your name, but I love you!! This peach frozen yogurt is amazing & perfect for a lonely Friday night at home :(

8/06/2010

Day #66 Thursday, August 5, 2010

Yep I know the sunglasses are looking a little sideways! They are my latest, greatest cheap sunglasses purchase & they are already broken. BUMMER!! Oh well they were $5, so I guess you get what you pay for. Maybe one day I'll buy some expensive ones that will last, but knowing me I'll just lose them lol!!

8/04/2010

Day #65 Wednesday, August 4

All I can say is yes we miss our girls, but we sure enjoy some "us" time ;)

Day #64 Tuesday, August 3

Since the girls have been gone almost a week now, every time I talk to Makaylie she has to make sure that we have been taking care of & playing with her Lola. So like the good momma I am, I have got her out (almost) every night to play with her. I've never had a guinea pig, but I have to admit she's pretty sweet & loveable, so its been fun having her around. I love to hear her purr, its too cute!

Day #63 Monday, August 2

It took me all of a day & a half to finish this book. The friend that gave it to me told me she didn't care for it, but still wanted me to read it. I have to say I've never read a book quite like it. It totally intrigued me & even though I still have certain questions about the events that took place, I did enjoy it. I have been somewhat surprised at some of the comments people I know have said about it. Seems like about 50% liked it & 50% didn't. I completely understand why some people wouldn't, but overall I would definetly recommend reading it.

8/02/2010

Day #62

As they say, all good things must come to an end. I'm heading home today from a fantastic weekend with some of my best friends in the world.

8/01/2010

Day #61

Love me some Cheesecake Factory!! After a very relaxing day of manicures & pedicures & swimming we treated ourselves to yum yum food & delicious cheesecake!! My friends, Dege, Katie, & Susan did some much needed catching up while feeding our faces. I love these girlies so much & I miss them everyday! I always enjoy my trips to see them, its like we don't live 2 1/2 hours from each other & pick up where we started from each time. Can't wait for our next weekend, which will probably be when my friend Katie has her baby in November!

Day #60

Ever since we moved from Okmulgee 5 years ago every summer sometime around my birthday I make a trip to see my friends in Tulsa. I worked their for 3 years at Saint Francis Breast Center. I made some of the closest friends I've ever had there. I always stay with my friend Dege & we always have to spend a little time by the pool. Of course this weekend was perfect for it with 100+ temps. After some yummy food at Compadres we soaked up what little sunshine was left in the evening while sipping on some cold beverages! So far my weekend is starting out wonderfully!
